PLANNING A STYLED PICTURE TO CREATE THE "WOW FACTOR"
The opportunity to create a branding image is certainly a challenge when faced with the sun creating deep shadows from the front eaves. The solution, is to wait until dusk or twilight to balance the features. This is a scouting shot (above) for the correct composition as I was intending to be on the roadway at night!
The finished result - Additional lighting with small "pops" of flash around the tables to create depth and to lead the eye inside where the warm lights invite you in. The top of the building had a dark window that could not be illuminated correctly therefore was taken out and highlights painted across the building front. You don't exactly know where the light is coming from but the outcome is a believable representation. The shot took 25 minutes with 20 minutes of post processing.
The whole gamut of retouching with multiple layers of light "pops" creating a 3D rendering. The lens flare is an added highlight where the sun is setting. Shot from an elevated position on top of a purpose built pole system to see above the fence line. The shot took less than 30 minutes with multiple layers in photoshop about the same time.
A sample shot (left) of the front of the studio residence. Quite bland and what you may expect from a novice or typical iPhone snap, Yuk!
